Two men arrested after 22 fake firearms and cannabis seized

**Two Men Arrested in Cross‑Border Operation Seizing Imitation Firearms and Cannabis**

*Dundalk, County Louth and Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland –*
An Garda Síochána and the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) announced the arrest of two men and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs and imitation firearms following a coordinated, intelligence‑led operation on Wednesday.

The operation, described by Gardaí as a “cross‑border intelligence‑led” effort, involved the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Organised Crime Unit, and the Irish Revenue Customs Service.

**Seizures in the Republic of Ireland**
In County Louth, authorities intercepted a vehicle in the Dundalk area, leading to the arrest of a man in his 40s on suspicion of drug trafficking. The raid resulted in the confiscation of 119 kilograms of cannabis, which Gardaí estimate to be worth €1.66 million.

Subsequent searches in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, uncovered 22 imitation firearms, an additional 45 kilograms of cannabis, and half a kilogram of cocaine. The PSNI’s Organised Crime Unit also seized approximately £25,000 (about €29,000) in cash. A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with these findings.

The two arrests and the material seized underscore ongoing cooperation between law‑enforcement agencies on both sides of the Irish border in tackling drug trafficking and organised crime. No further details about the suspects’ identities or forthcoming legal proceedings have been released.
