On January 5th, 2026, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) conducted Operation Trident in the San Juan district, resulting in the arrest of two men and the seizure of a firearm and ammunition. The operation was part of proactive crime suppression efforts in the region. Following a tip-off about suspicious individuals, officers trailed a brown Suzuki Ciaz car. The vehicle’s occupants fled in different directions when officers approached, but two suspects were apprehended. They were taken to the San Juan Police Station for further questioning while their vehicle was impounded. A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of a Smith & Wesson firearm with ten rounds of 9mm ammunition.
