**Tunisia and Egypt Seek to Strengthen Trade and Investment Ties**

**CAIRO** – Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, in Cairo on Sunday to discuss expanding bilateral economic cooperation and regional coordination.

According to a press release from the Tunisian Foreign Ministry, the two ministers reviewed the current state of relations between the nations, noting that previous meetings of the Tunisian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee have yielded progress in economic, trade, cultural, and consular sectors.

The ministers agreed to direct relevant national institutions to increase trade exchanges and facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries. Furthermore, they expressed an interest in identifying new opportunities for joint investment and enhancing technical cooperation between specialized agencies, with a particular focus on collaborative efforts within Africa and other Islamic nations.

During the visit, the ministers addressed several regional issues scheduled for discussion at the 166th Session of the Council of the League of Arab States, emphasizing the importance of coordinating efforts to reach consensus on these matters.

Minister Nafti also attended the seventh Dialogue Meeting between the Technical Cooperation Agencies of the Member States of the Islamic Development Bank, held at the invitation of the Egyptian government. In his address, Nafti highlighted Tunisia’s long-standing experience in technical cooperation, which began in the 1970s. He underscored the link between security and development as a foundation for South-South cooperation and the development of human capital across the Islamic world.

The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation and its Egyptian counterpart. The agreement is intended to establish a framework for triangular cooperation, facilitating the joint deployment of Tunisian and Egyptian expertise to support development projects in Arab and African nations.
