A 40-year-old man from Tunapuna tragically lost his life in a fiery crash on Churchill Roosevelt Highway. Jason Small, the victim, was driving a blue Nissan Versa when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway, collide with a culvert, and crash into a ditch. The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on Thursday 4th June, 2026, near the BM Electronics Warehouse.
In the horrifying moments that followed the crash, the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Small, who was alone in the car, was trapped inside and unable to escape. By the time emergency responders arrived on the scene, the vehicle had been entirely consumed by flames.
Fire officers from the Tunapuna Fire Station responded to the incident and managed to extinguish the blaze. Despite their efforts, Small had already succumbed to his injuries and was burned beyond recognition. Officers from the Arouca Police Station, the Highway Patrol Unit, and senior police officials also responded to the incident.
The investigation into this heartbreaking incident is ongoing, as authorities now focus on understanding the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
