On the sunny morning of Monday, 13th April 2026, the Wharton Patrick Special Needs School in St. Ann’s was filled with an atmosphere of joy and laughter. Officers from the Port of Spain Division Community Oriented Policing Section (C.O.P.S) had arrived for a special visit. The officers, led by W/Ag/Sgt Thomas and Cpl Daniel, were there in recognition of World Autism Day, a global event that promotes understanding and acceptance of people with autism. The visit was aimed at fostering a sense of inclusion, positivity, and community engagement. With smiles and open hearts, the officers distributed treats to approximately 25 students, sparking cheer among the attendees. But the officers didn’t stop at gift-giving. They spent time interacting with the students, engaging in friendly conversations and creating an encouraging environment. These interactions helped to build connections and uplift spirits, reinforcing the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s ongoing commitment to strengthening relationships within communities and promoting empathy and understanding. The impact of their visit was evident in the sincere gratitude expressed by the school’s principal, staff, and students. It was a day of joy and appreciation, a testament to the positive difference that dedicated officers can make in the lives of young people.
