TTK: Jenni-tytär kertoo Pate Mustajärven kuolemasta: ”Homma meni niin vauhdikkaasti”

Musician Jenni Mustajärvi spoke about the death of her father, Popeda frontman Pate Mustajärvi, during a live broadcast of the Sunday episode of “Tanssii tähtien kanssa” (Dancing with the Stars) on MTV3. The episode was part of a “Roosa nauha” (Pink Ribbon) themed season, which raises money for Finnish cancer research. Pate Mustajärvi, who had been diagnosed with cancer in September 2025, died in December 2025. In the interview, Jenni said she still feels grief every day and that the loss has fundamentally changed her. “It feels like I’m in the middle of sorrow every day,” she told host Veronica Verho. “The thing that helped me move forward was being able to spend the last moments with my father.” Verho asked what had helped her cope. Jenni replied that the rapidness of her father’s passing made it impossible to prepare, but that the experience of being with him until the end was crucial. “The way it happened so quickly, I couldn’t have prepared for it,” she said. “That has helped me move forward.” Jenni also urged viewers to consider donating to cancer research, saying that “someone else’s story could have a happier ending.” The “Tanssii tähtien kanssa” broadcast aired at 19:30 on Sunday, and the show’s “Roosa nauha” episode was part of a broader fundraising effort for Finnish cancer research.
