Trump’s Shift: Advanced Weapons to Ukraine if Russia Conflict Persists Beyond 50 Days

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Russia, indicating his dissatisfaction with its actions in Ukraine. He announced that if a ceasefire is not achieved within the next 50 days, the U.S. will provide advanced weapons to Ukraine through NATO. This statement, made at the White House alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, represents a significant policy shift for Trump, who expressed being “very, very unhappy” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also threatened “very severe” secondary tariffs of up to 100% if the conflict persists beyond the specified deadline.

This announcement highlights Trump’s evolving stance on Russia, as noted by North America correspondent Anthony Zurcher, suggesting he is growing impatient with the Kremlin’s actions. In parallel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described his recent talks with U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg as “productive,” emphasizing the strengthening of military and diplomatic ties amid the ongoing conflict.

In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov underscored the importance of continuing negotiations regarding Ukraine, as NATO leaders aim to reinforce their support for Ukraine and seek a diplomatic resolution to the crisis.
