U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the United States may conduct military strikes against Iran’s “Pickaxe Mountain” facility, a site where Tehran is alleged to be expanding its nuclear infrastructure.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump reaffirmed his administration’s stance that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon. Regarding the potential for military action at the facility, Trump said, “We may hit Pickaxe very soon… if there was anything going on with Pickaxe.”

The President’s remarks follow a recent resumption of U.S. strikes against Iranian targets. When asked to characterize the nature of the ongoing confrontation, Trump described it as a “military conflict” rather than a war.

“A lot of people don’t call it a war. I call it a military conflict because it’s small potatoes for us,” Trump said. He contrasted the current situation with past conflicts, noting that while 18 people have been lost in the current engagement, the scale remains limited compared to historical precedents.

Addressing the duration of the current escalation, Trump stated he did not expect the confrontation to continue for an extended period, suggesting that Iran may have limited capacity to withstand further American military pressure.

“I don’t think it will be very much longer. I don’t know how much more they can take,” Trump said. He added that the U.S. military remains prepared to launch additional strikes against Iranian targets if deemed necessary, noting that the most recent operation was “a very heavy attack.”

The President’s comments follow statements made Thursday by Vice President JD Vance, who also declined to characterize the situation as a war.
