A truck driver was rescued on Friday night after becoming trapped on a low-lying bridge for three hours. The incident occurred as the driver was traveling to collect a load of citrus when the vehicle became stranded due to the surging waters of the Gamtoos River.
Emergency responders conducted the rescue operation as the river flooded the bridge, surrounding the truck. The driver remained trapped in the vehicle for the duration of the three-hour ordeal before being successfully brought to safety.
