Trinidadian Leeann Dass Wins International Pageant Crown in South Korea

Trinidad and Tobago has another reason to celebrate on the international stage after 37-year-old Leeann Dass captured the Woman of the Universe Elite 2026 title in South Korea.

Dass represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 47th Woman of the Universe International Pageant, competing among approximately 40 delegates from across the globe.

She secured one of the competition’s three major international titles, bringing another crown home for Trinidad and Tobago.

Her success did not end there. Dass also received the Best Artistic National Costume Award, recognising her presentation of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture and heritage on the international stage.

She was additionally appointed a Belle Global Ambassador, creating another opportunity for international exposure.

Originally from Princes Town, Dass is a dancer, choreographer, dance instructor and artistic director of 4.1.1 Dance Theatre.

Through her work in dance, she has mentored more than 300 students, helping young people develop confidence, discipline and creative expression.

Her journey into pageantry represented a significant departure from her established career in dance.

Before travelling to South Korea, Dass explained that she wanted to lead by example, demonstrating the courage and confidence she regularly encourages in her students.

Reflecting on her international victory, she described the experience as unforgettable, explaining that stepping outside her comfort zone had challenged and empowered her.

Dass also expressed pride in representing Trinidad and Tobago, emphasising that her achievement was about more than winning a crown.

She hopes her journey will encourage others to pursue their dreams regardless of their background or circumstances.

National Director Alveada Meah described the victory as an important milestone for the Woman of the Universe Trinidad and Tobago franchise, saying it demonstrates the ability of local representatives to succeed on international platforms.

The Ministry of Culture and Community Development has also extended congratulations to Dass, recognising her accomplishments and the cultural richness of Trinidad and Tobago.

Dass is scheduled to return home on October 10, 2026, following her international success.

Her achievement adds another chapter to Trinidad and Tobago’s representation in international pageantry, highlighting the talent, determination and cultural identity of its people.
