Trinidad Prime Minister Condemns Violence After White House Dinner Shooting

Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, took to social media to express her relief that President Donald Trump, the First Lady, and all officials and guests are safe following a shooting incident that occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. In her statement, she commended the United States Secret Service for their swift and effective action in apprehending the shooter, highlighting the importance of their role in ensuring the safety of public officials.

Persad-Bissessar also extended her best wishes to an officer who was injured during the incident, emphasizing the personal toll such attacks can have on individuals serving in protective roles. She strongly condemned any acts of violence aimed at democratic institutions, indicating that such actions are threats to the foundation of democracy itself.

Her comments reflect a broader concern over the ongoing risks faced by leaders, especially as she noted that this incident is yet another attempt targeting President Trump. In closing, she prayed for President Trump’s continued safety and for the well-being of the American people, reinforcing her solidarity with those affected by the attack.
