Trinidad Man Shot Dead After Chase into Strangers’ Home; Calls for Police Post Intensify

A 49‑year‑old labourer, Aaron Seebaran, was shot dead in the toilet of a stranger’s house on Williamsville Main Road in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday afternoon. The killing, which took place shortly after 4.15 p.m., followed a pursuit that led Seebaran into the rear of the residence near the Williamsville Community Centre.

Witnesses say the man was chased by an unknown gunman who shouted “Whey meh money?” before opening fire. Seebaran was found slumped in the toilet area, having been shot while running toward the back of the house.

Investigators from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three recovered two spent 9‑mm Luger shells and a cellphone at the scene. The shells were later matched to a weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.

Police later located a blue Hyundai Elantra in Unity East, Garth Road, Princes Town, which is suspected to have been involved. Officers are continuing the investigation while the vehicle is held for evidence.

The killing has reignited calls from Williamsville residents for a local police post. The area is served only by Princes Town and Gasparillo stations, and the lack of a nearby post has long been a security concern. The incident follows the 1994 Baboolal family massacre, a notorious crime in the community that underscored the need for stronger policing.
