Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) has raised its cement bag prices by 15% due to a steep increase in natural gas prices, which is a key component in cement production. This change, which began on February 9, 2026, comes after a 77% hike in natural gas prices from the state-owned National Gas Company (NGC). This is the sixth consecutive year TCL has recalibrated its prices, causing the cost of a standard 42.5 kg bag of TCL Premium Plus cement to jump to around $77.34. The increase makes locally manufactured cement from TCL more expensive than some imported alternatives, like Rock Hard cement, which is selling for around $62 per bag. TCL’s Eco Cement line also experienced a price rise, now listed at approximately $68 in some retail hardware prices. Despite worries about the effect of this increase on contractors, households, and the broader construction sector, TCL maintains that the price adjustment was unavoidable due to the current cost pressures.
