Trinidad Braces for Water Disruption Amidst Desalination Plant Shutdown

Residents in central and south Trinidad are bracing for a disruption in their water supply as the Point Lisas Desalination Plant announces a scheduled shutdown from August 18 to August 24, 2025. The shutdown will impact a number of communities including Caroni, Chaguanas, Couva, San Fernando, and La Brea, among others. The water supply will be limited throughout the period and residents are strongly advised to store water in advance and practice conservation methods such as reducing outdoor use and avoiding wastage. Authorities are urging residents to plan ahead, establish proper storage systems, and disseminate this information within their communities.
