Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

On 7th May 2026, a key discussion took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. The Honourable Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, met with João Caetano da Silva, Special Envoy of the Government of Portugal for the Caribbean. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) of the Ministry.

The talks were centered on areas of mutual interest between Trinidad and Tobago and Portugal. The dialogue provided a valuable platform for both parties to exchange views and identify potential areas of collaboration.

The main aim of the meeting was to explore opportunities for strengthening engagement between the two countries. Both sides expressed interest in developing a more robust partnership, leveraging their shared interests and mutual benefits.
