Japan’s updated visa-waiver list omits Trinidad and Tobago while granting visa-free access to four Caribbean nations.

Japan has updated its list of countries and territories whose citizens can enter the country without obtaining a visa in advance, but Trinidad and Tobago has not been included.

The updated visa-waiver program covers 74 countries and territories and allows eligible travellers to visit Japan for tourism, business, family visits, and other short-term purposes without first applying for a visa, subject to the conditions of Japan’s immigration rules.

Among Caribbean nations, only The Bahamas, Barbados, the Dominican Republic, and Suriname are included in the current visa-exemption list.

Trinidad and Tobago is not among the eligible countries. Other Caribbean nations that are also absent from the list include Jamaica, Guyana, Haiti, and Belize.

Japan’s visa-waiver arrangements are generally based on reciprocal agreements between governments and are reviewed periodically. Being excluded from the list means Trinidad and Tobago passport holders must continue applying for a visa before travelling to Japan unless another exemption applies.

The updated list highlights the varying travel agreements Japan maintains with countries around the world, with visa-free access depending on diplomatic and immigration arrangements between both nations.

Travellers from Trinidad and Tobago planning to visit Japan should continue to check the latest visa requirements with the Japanese Embassy or official Japanese immigration authorities before making travel arrangements.
