Trinidad and Tobago are joining the global community to observe World Children’s Day, themed ‘My Day, My Rights.’ This serves as a reminder that each child has inherent dignity and deserves full protection, with the right to express their voice and shape their future. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has shown an unwavering commitment to child protection, focusing on their well-being, safety, and development. Since April 2025, steps have been taken to strengthen children’s rights and opportunities, including prioritising universal digital access, implementing free laptops for every Form One child, expanding national school-safety frameworks, and increasing paediatric mental-health services. The upcoming opening of the Couva Children’s Hospital is a significant step towards improving children’s healthcare. On this World Children’s Day, the nation is encouraged to listen to the voices of its young people and ensure ‘My Day, My Rights’ becomes a reality for every child.
