Three girls were injured after falling from a mechanical ride during the patronal fair in Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic.
The incident occurred on Friday night, around 9:00 p.m., on Padre Meriño Street when one of the seats on the ride known as “La Estrellita” opened, causing the riders to fall.
All three girls sustained injuries and were taken to a local medical facility for treatment. No further details about the severity of the injuries have been released.
Authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the cause of the seat failure or whether any safety inspections were pending.
The patronal fair, a traditional celebration in Hato Mayor, attracted many visitors, but the incident has prompted concerns about the safety of amusement rides at the event.
