An untimely tragedy has struck the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort in Lowlands, Tobago as a staff member collapsed and died on the night of March 27th. The identity of the deceased is yet to be officially disclosed. The employee reportedly collapsed on the resort grounds shortly after midnight, following a late-night shift finalizing payroll duties.
The incident unfolded as the employee was walking toward her vehicle upon finishing her work. Despite the immediate execution of emergency measures, she was tragically pronounced dead. This highlights the dedication of the deceased who had returned to the resort specifically to ensure the timely payment of her colleagues.
The resort’s management, while confirming the occurrence, has remained brief on the matter. Their current focus lies in managing the immediate aftermath of the incident and providing support to those affected. A representative stated, ‘Management is currently occupied addressing the situation and is not in a position to comment further at this time.’
The sudden loss has caused a ripple effect in the local hospitality sector, with the resort being one of the largest employers on the island. As the resort grapples with the loss of a dedicated team member, colleagues have begun expressing their grief privately. Standard procedures are expected to be followed in the investigations into the cause of the collapse.
