In a tragic incident on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, 40-year-old Stacy Johnson from Morvant collapsed and died shortly after swimming at the Boardwalk in Chaguaramas. The unfortunate event unfolded around 6:15 p.m. as Johnson emerged from the water. Witnesses reported that she suddenly collapsed on the shoreline. Two nearby bystanders, aged 21 and 18, rushed to her aid, helping her onto a chair. Johnson complained of chest pains and mentioned a prior issue with a blood clot in her chest. Despite attempts to stand, she fell again, exhibiting alarming symptoms including wide-open eyes, a white protruding tongue, and gasping for breath before losing consciousness. Emergency services were alerted, and officers from the West End CID and Carenage Police Station quickly responded. Tragically, when the District Medical Officer arrived, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.
