Tragedy Strikes on Lady Young Road

A tragic incident occurred early Friday morning when Hansley Simmons, a Morvant resident from Thompson Trace, Mon Repos, was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the Lady Young Road. The accident took place around 1:55 a.m. on July 11, 2025, at the intersection of Lady Young Road and the Eastern Main Road. Reports indicate that a grey Nissan Wingroad, registered as PCF 4447, was traveling north on Lady Young Road when it collided with Simmons, who was using the marked crosswalk to cross from east to west. Unfortunately, Simmons sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Morvant Police, under the direction of Ag/Cpl Gordon, are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
