Tragedy struck at the Boardwalk in Chaguaramas on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, when 40-year-old Stacy Johnson, a resident of Morvant, collapsed and died shortly after swimming. Witnesses reported that around 6:15 p.m., Johnson exited the water and suddenly fell to the ground. Bystanders, aged 21 and 18, rushed to her aid, helping her onto a nearby chair. Johnson complained of chest pains and revealed she had a history of a blood clot in her chest. Despite her attempts to stand, she collapsed once more. Observers noted that her condition rapidly deteriorated; her eyes widened, her tongue turned white, and she began gasping and screaming before losing consciousness. Emergency services were alerted, and police officers arrived promptly. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the District Medical Officer who later pronounced her dead, Johnson could not be revived, leaving the community in shock over this sudden loss.
