**Togo Launches Digital Platform to Strengthen Malaria Control**
*Lomé, Togo – August 24 2026* – The Togolese government announced this week that it has validated the modules of the National Malaria Data Repository (NMDR), a digital platform designed to centralise malaria‑related information and improve the use of health data for decision‑making.
The NMDR is intended to provide structured, up‑to‑date data on malaria incidence, enabling authorities to identify geographic areas and population groups most at risk. According to the Ministry of Health, the platform will support the adaptation of interventions, allow for the measurement of field results, and facilitate coordination among agencies involved in malaria prevention and treatment.
Key target groups identified by the Ministry are children under five years of age and pregnant women, who are most vulnerable to severe forms of the disease. The platform will also serve as a tool for guiding the allocation of health‑sector resources.
The move follows a series of recent malaria‑control initiatives. In July 2026, Togo conducted a nationwide campaign that distributed 5.66 million insecticide‑treated nets. The distribution was preceded by a digital household census that helped identify eligible beneficiaries. Additionally, since September 2025 the country has incorporated the R21/Matrix‑M malaria vaccine into its routine immunisation schedule, targeting approximately 269 000 children each year with a four‑dose series administered between five and fifteen months of age.
On the financing side, the government is seeking to mobilise roughly 50 billion CFA francs from the Global Fund to support combined efforts against HIV, tuberculosis and malaria for the 2027‑2029 period.
The World Health Organization’s country office for Togo highlighted the development on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating: “Exploiting data to accelerate the fight against malaria. Togo validates the modules of the National Malaria Data Repository, a digital platform to centralise data and guide decisions to better protect children under five and pregnant women.” (Posted 24 August 2026).
