In a shocking incident, a resident from Cunupia fell prey to a calculated setup, losing thousands of dollars in valuables during a meetup arranged via the Tinder app. The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Nelson Street, Port of Spain, around midday on Friday, March 27th.
Having been lured to the location via the dating app, the unsuspecting 34-year-old man was ambushed from behind by two unidentified assailants. The men demanded his personal belongings, including his phone, wallet, watch, and bank card PIN. Fearing for his safety, the victim complied with the demands.
Following the robbery, the attackers swiftly fled the scene, disappearing into the apartment compound. The victim, in shock from the sudden assault, reported losing cash in addition to an iPhone and a watch, with the total loss valued in the thousands.
The local police are continuing their investigations into the incident. The case serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in online dating and the importance of exercising caution when meeting with strangers.
