The Panama-Germany Alliance: Business, Security and Investment.

President José Raúl Mulino met with German Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul during an official consultation at the Palacio de las Garzas in Panama City. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in security, trade, investment and infrastructure. The governments agreed to expand intelligence sharing and naval operational coordination to counter international drug trafficking and organized crime. They specifically targeted criminal networks that use Atlantic Ocean routes to smuggle narcotics into European markets. Both sides also emphasized the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and upholding international law as foundations for trade and cooperation. Wadephul expressed interest from German companies in participating in Panama’s infrastructure projects, particularly in the rail and highway sectors. He said a German business delegation would soon travel to Panama to explore investment opportunities. The Panamanian government was congratulated on its progress in removing the country from the European Union’s discriminatory lists. During the visit, Wadephul also delivered 60 tons of humanitarian aid to assist those affected by the October 9 earthquake, including 1,000 drinking‑water filters, 780 kitchen sets, 900 tarpaulins, 512 blankets and 822 cots.
