Kranium Seen Throwing Award in Bin After Caribbean Music Awards Dispute

Dancehall artist Kranium has spoken out after a recent disagreement with the Caribbean Music Awards, saying he felt disrespected by how the situation was handled.

In a video statement, the New York–based artiste made it clear that his focus has always been on creating music, not chasing clout.

“I don’t know how to sell hype. I know how to sell records. I don’t like clout. I don’t like mix-up. I’ve always just been doing my own thing,” he said.

Kranium explained that he performed at the show out of respect for the event and the culture, turning down other paid gigs around that time in order to give his full support. However, he says he was later contacted by organizers and told there had been a mistake regarding his award.

“One week after you call me to tell me you made a mistake… that was pure disrespect,” he said.

The artiste’s frustration was also visible in a clip posted on our Instagram page, where he was seen placing his trophy into a trash bin, captioning the video: “@caribmusicawards garbage is on Tuesdays… a it this me done with the conversation.”

Kranium, known for international hits like “Nobody Has to Know,” also spoke about the struggles of breaking through as an artist from New York, saying he takes pride in representing the city and motivating other young artists abroad to believe they can succeed in Caribbean music without having to fake or pretend.

The Caribbean Music Awards organizers have not yet publicly responded to his comments.
