Libyan Army Intercepts Migrant Smuggling Attempt
The 444th Combat Brigade, a unit of the Western-based Libyan Army, announced yesterday that it had successfully intercepted three trucks carrying irregular migrants attempting to cross the border illegally. Following a pursuit, Libyan Army detachments apprehended the individuals involved and referred them to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
According to the 444th Combat Brigade, its detachments continue to fulfill their national duty, maintaining their posts at the borders, pursuing smuggling gangs, and guarding strategic points despite the harsh summer conditions in the desert. The brigade stated that its efforts aim to protect Libya’s security and stability by confronting networks involved in human trafficking, drug smuggling, and other activities that pose a threat to the country.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by Libyan Army units to secure the country’s borders and combat organized crime, despite the challenging climate and terrain. The 444th Combat Brigade’s actions demonstrate the Libyan Army’s commitment to addressing the issue of irregular migration and combating criminal activities that undermine the country’s stability.
