*Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 29 August 2026*

In the opening match of the 2026 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Thailand women’s cricket team secured a six‑run victory over the Hong Kong women’s side.

After winning the toss, Hong Kong elected to bowl first. Their early breakthrough came with the dismissals of Thailand’s Aphisara Suwanchonrathi (caught for 11) and Phannita Maya (caught for 19). Thailand’s captain, Naruemol Chaiwai, anchored the innings with a rapid 43 runs off 31 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. She was supported by Nannapat Koncharoenkai, who added 27 runs from 41 balls. Thailand posted a total of 120 for 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Hong Kong’s Marina Lamplough was the most effective bowler for the hosts, taking four wickets for just 11 runs in her four overs. Alison Siu also contributed three wickets for 37 runs.

Chasing a target of 121, Hong Kong began cautiously but saw a brief surge from opener Kary Chan, who scored 28 runs off 20 deliveries, and Yasmin Daswani, who added 28 runs from 41 balls. Despite these contributions, Hong Kong could not maintain the required run rate. Thailand’s off‑spinner Onnicha Kamchomphu claimed three wickets for 27 runs, while Phannita Maya took two wickets for 22 runs. Hong Kong were eventually restricted to 114 for 7 wickets in their 20 overs, falling short by six runs.

Naruemol Chaiwai was named Player of the Match for her pivotal innings that helped Thailand set a defendable total on a challenging surface.

**Match Summary**
