Tanzania, Comoros Agree to Broaden Economic Ties in Trade, Financial Services and Infrastructure Sectors

**Tanzania and Comoros Discuss Expansion of Economic Cooperation**

*Dar es Salaam, 27 August 2026* – Tanzania and the Union of the Comoros are seeking to deepen bilateral economic ties across a range of sectors, officials said following a meeting at Tanzania’s Ministry of Finance.

Tanzania’s Minister for Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, met with Comoros’ Minister for Finance, Budget and Banking Sector, Moussa Abderemane, at the ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, financial services and infrastructure development.

Omar stated that Tanzania is “committed to further strengthening economic and development cooperation with the Comoros government.” He identified trade and investment, financial and banking services, public financial management, infrastructure development, energy, tourism and agriculture as priority areas with “significant potential” for collaboration.

The Tanzanian minister also emphasized the need to create a “conducive environment to facilitate the movement of goods, services, capital and businesspeople” between the two countries, noting that such measures could boost trade, investment and employment.

Abderemane thanked Tanzania for its role as a development partner and said his delegation’s visit aimed to learn from Tanzania’s experience in using information and communication technology (ICT) for government revenue collection. “We will use the lessons from this visit to improve Comoros’ government revenue collection systems through ICT and tax management systems,” he said, adding that the reforms are intended to stimulate economic growth.

Both ministers described the meeting as an opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices in economic management, public finance and domestic revenue collection, with the broader goal of building a resilient and inclusive economy in each country.
