Businessman and Zanu PF Central Committee member Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei has reignited debate over Zimbabwe’s political direction after declaring President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the sole centre of power.
The statement, made at a party gathering, comes amid ongoing discussions about leadership succession within Zanu PF. Tagwirei, a close ally of Mnangagwa, emphasised loyalty to the president as the party’s unifying figure.
Political analysts say the declaration may be aimed at quelling factional tensions ahead of the 2028 elections. Critics, however, view it as an attempt to consolidate authoritarian rule.
The development has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters hailing Tagwirei’s stance while opponents accuse him of sycophancy.
