A coconut vendor in the Couva district was the victim of a swift robbery in the early hours of 10th July, 2026. The vendor was conducting his sales along Rivulet Road around 2:40 am when he was abruptly accosted by three male suspects. One of the suspects was armed and they had arrived in a black Nissan X-Trail motor vehicle.
During the incident, the vendor was divested of his cash and three bottles of coconut water. The suspects then made their escape, heading north along the Sir. Solomon Hochoy Highway.
However, their getaway was short-lived due to the quick and coordinated actions of the Central Division officers, with assistance from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch and the Home Invasion Unit. They managed to intercept the black Nissan X-Trail in the vicinity of Divali Nagar, halting the suspects’ escape.
Four males, aged between 18 to 26, were subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. As the investigation continues, the quick action of the law enforcement units stands as a testament to their dedication to ensuring safety and justice in the community.
