Suspected Arson Hits Construction Site Near Kassel-Calden Airport, Germany

Suspected arson has been reported at a construction site near Kassel‑Calden Airport in Germany. Early Friday morning, a witness observed flames south of the B7 highway and called emergency services at approximately 3:15 a.m. Responding officers found three construction vehicles on fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the incident also damaged nearby machinery. The site is part of a business park that includes a logistics centre under construction for the security and defence industry. Investigators believe the fire was deliberately started. Because of a potential political motive—though none has yet been confirmed—state security detectives have taken over the investigation. The area remains cordoned off for forensic examination. Witnesses who saw suspicious people or vehicles are urged to contact the police at 0561‑9100.
