Starbucks Marks Decade in Trinidad and Tobago With 17 Stores

Starbucks is celebrating 10 years in Trinidad and Tobago this month, marking a decade that has taken the international coffee chain from just one local store to 17 locations across the country.

The journey began on August 29, 2016, when Starbucks officially opened its first Trinidad and Tobago location at SouthPark in San Fernando.

From there, the brand expanded rapidly.

Less than two months later, Starbucks opened its second store at MovieTowne in Port of Spain on October 22, 2016. Its third location followed at Endeavour, Chaguanas, on November 25 of the same year.

By August 2017, just one year after entering the Trinidad and Tobago market, Starbucks had already grown to five stores, with the opening of its Munroe Road location marking the company’s first anniversary.

A decade later, Starbucks Trinidad and Tobago officially lists 17 stores nationwide, nine of which operate with a drive-thru format.

The company’s current locations stretch across several of Trinidad’s major commercial and population centres, including Port of Spain, San Fernando, Chaguanas, Couva, St Augustine, Trincity, Aranguez and Piarco.

Starbucks has been marking the milestone throughout August with its “10 years in T&T” celebrations, including anniversary beverages, promotions and events at selected locations.

The company’s official 10-year anniversary falls on August 29, 2026, exactly a decade after customers first walked through the doors of the SouthPark store.

The expansion represents significant growth for a brand that entered Trinidad and Tobago with a single location in 2016.

Within its first year, Starbucks had already reached five stores. Ten years later, the company officially lists 17 locations, reflecting how firmly the international coffeehouse brand has established itself within Trinidad and Tobago’s food and beverage landscape.

Starbucks’ local operations are associated with Prestige Holdings Limited, which brought the brand into the Trinidad and Tobago market.

The anniversary also highlights the evolution of the local café market over the past decade, with coffee shops becoming increasingly visible at shopping centres, commercial districts and drive-thru locations.

For Starbucks, however, perhaps the simplest way to illustrate its first decade in Trinidad and Tobago is through the numbers.

One store in 2016. Seventeen stores 10 years later.

And this August, the company is celebrating a decade since it all started at SouthPark in San Fernando.
