SRPs Disappointed and Disrespected at Absorption Meeting

Special Reserve Police Officers (SRPs) from Trinidad and Tobago expressed deep disappointment following a meeting on the long-promised SRP absorption program. At the meeting, new requirements, timelines, and training for SRPs to be absorbed into the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service were explained. However, officers were incensed by statements made by executive officers that they felt were dismissive, insulting, and disrespectful. ACP Curt Simon’s statement that even if an SRP had ’20 years of service and 400 matters,’ the TTPS ‘owes you nothing,’ was particularly hurtful. The meeting left SRPs feeling belittled and unvalued, and many are now seeking legal advice. Despite the fallout, the criteria for absorption were formalized, and the orientation is set for 26 December 2025.
