SpaceX Ends Florida’s Falcon 9 Starlink Launches, Transitioning to Starship for Future Missions

SpaceX is closing a significant chapter in its Florida operations with the final dedicated Falcon 9 launch for the Starlink constellation. The Starlink Group 10-49 mission, launched on August 25, signifies the end of an era as SpaceX transitions to relying on its larger Starship system for future launches from the state.

SpaceX’s Vice President of Launch, Kiko Dontchev, confirmed this milestone, emphasizing the Falcon 9’s role in rapidly building the Starlink network. Over the past seven years, approximately 260 Starlink missions have been launched from Cape Canaveral using Falcon 9, a testament to the rocket’s reliability and efficiency.

The transition to Starship, designed to carry significantly larger payloads, represents a strategic shift for SpaceX. Although Falcon 9 will no longer launch Starlink satellites from Florida, it will continue to do so from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
