Soweto Derby: Gautrain buses to run between Park Station and FNB Stadium

Football supporters attending the Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 31 October, will receive return bus transport if they purchased the now‑sold‑out match ticket together with a Gautrain transport package. The package provides a return bus service between Park Station and FNB Stadium, giving ticket holders an additional travel option for one of South Africa’s biggest football fixtures. Gautrain Management Agency CEO Tshepo Kgobe said the service was designed to make travel to the match more convenient for supporters. “Gautrain will offer fans a convenient and seamless way to get to the Soweto Derby, building on our experience in supporting major social and lifestyle events across Gauteng,” Kgobe said. Buses will operate between Park Station and FNB Stadium from 10 am until 7 pm, with passengers dropped off and collected at the stadium’s Transport Hub. Match tickets will be scanned at Park Station before boarding, and only supporters with valid match tickets who purchased the Gautrain package will be allowed to use the buses. The package includes bus transport only; train fares must be paid separately at standard Gautrain rates. Fans travelling by train can also use Gautrain’s station parking rate of R10, compared with the R135 rate for non‑rail users. In addition, Gautrain will extend its train services from Sandton Station on Saturday night to accommodate people attending Johannesburg Pride, the Replenishment Concert, and other late‑night events in the area. The last train will depart Sandton Station at midnight, extending services beyond the usual 8:30 pm closing time. The extended late‑night service will not include the Airport Line. Passengers attending the events are encouraged to plan their journeys and note the revised departure time when arranging their transport home.
