Son of Executed Marxist Leader Bijan Jazani Now Backs Reza Pahlavi, Shaking Up Iran Opposition

In a striking turn of events that underscores the evolving dynamics of Iranian opposition politics, Mazyar Maximilien Jazani — son of the executed Marxist leader Bijan Jazani — has thrown his support behind Reza Pahlavi, the former crown prince of Iran. The announcement, reported by Aurora Israel, highlights a significant shift: the descendant of a man once killed by the Shah’s regime is now aligning with the monarchy’s heir.

Bijan Jazani was a prominent Marxist intellectual and activist executed in 1975 under the rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah. His son Mazyar, bearing the middle name Maximilien in a nod to revolutionary ideals, had long been associated with leftist circles. However, his recent endorsement of Reza Pahlavi signals a pragmatic coalition-building effort aimed at challenging the current Islamic Republic.

This realignment is seen as a bridge between historically opposed ideological factions — Marxists and monarchists — united by a common goal of overthrowing the regime in Tehran. It reflects a broader trend within the diaspora where former adversaries are setting aside past grievances to form a united front.

Analysts suggest that such alliances could strengthen the credibility and reach of the opposition movement, though they also risk internal friction. For now, Mazyar Jazani’s move is being hailed by supporters as a historic step toward a pluralistic vision for Iran’s future.
