Soldier Arrested in Major Firearms Bust During Anti-Crime Operation

In a significant anti-crime operation, three individuals, including a 26-year-old soldier, were arrested in connection with firearms possession in the Northern Division and Tobago Divisions. The operation, led by senior officers including ACP Collis Hazel, took place from the evening of July 7 to the early hours of July 8, 2025. Police intercepted two vehicles in Arima, discovering a submachine gun with 22 rounds and a pistol with 11 rounds. The suspects, aged between 25 and 27, are believed to have been preparing to commit a firearm-related crime. Additional anti-crime exercises in Tobago also yielded one firearm, with investigations ongoing in both incidents.
