Slope Work Begins Tomorrow

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in Trinidad and Tobago is set to initiate critical slope stabilisation works on Mandingo Road, specifically at the 1.2 km mark, starting from 7:00 a.m. on 31 July 2025. This decision comes in response to severe landslip activity that has not only disrupted road access but has also led to structural damages to nearby homes.

The scope of the project includes the construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall built on a piled foundation, along with the installation of a gabion basket retaining wall and associated drainage works. As of 30 July 2025, the contractor has conducted a survey of the project site to prepare for the upcoming work.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, specifically Realize Branch Road and Sahadath Road, to bypass the affected area during the construction period. Additionally, the Ministry will be holding a community outreach meeting in the near future to engage local residents, provide updates, address concerns, and share further insights regarding the project. The Ministry expresses gratitude to the Mandingo Road community for their patience and cooperation during this critical infrastructure improvement effort.
