Severe thunderstorm warning ends for North Thompson (Kamloops)

A severe thunderstorm warning that was issued for the North Thompson region has ended, according to Environment Canada. The warning was cancelled at 9:37 p.m. after the severe thunderstorms had weakened or moved out of the area.

The warning was initially issued at 8:07 p.m. on Monday, with Environment Canada stating that meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to quarter-sized hail, and heavy rain. The thunderstorm was located near the northern end of Adam Lake and was moving eastward at 40 km/h.

Environment Canada warned that heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. The agency advised people to take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approached and to protect themselves from flying debris and hail if they were outside.

A severe thunderstorm watch was also issued for the West Columbia region, which is located further to the east. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when a storm is imminent or occurring and is expected to produce damaging hail, wind, or rain.
