Two members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment (TTR) were injured, one critically, in a serious road traffic accident on the Uriah Butler Highway in Chaguanas early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. when a 60-year-old driver from Carenage encountered a stalled vehicle with no lights on in the middle lane. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver swerved and struck Sgt. Anim Barker, a TTR officer. Shortly after, another vehicle travelling in the same direction also swerved and struck Cpl Kern Cupidore. Both men were rushed to Mt. Hope General Hospital, with Barker now unconscious and on oxygen support due to severe injuries, while Cupidore is in stable condition with multiple injuries. The incident is currently under investigation.
