An 82-year-old man has died following a physical altercation over a sunbed at a beach near Athens, Greece. Local media reports indicate that the dispute involved an approximately 70-year-old man and escalated into a violent confrontation that drew in other individuals present at the scene.
Witnesses described the situation as chaotic, with one person telling the newspaper Kathimerini that shouting could be heard from the opposite end of the beach. According to reports, the 82-year-old man collapsed during the altercation. Bystanders attempted to provide emergency assistance before medical personnel arrived. The man was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have arrested a 76-year-old man in connection with the incident. A 21-year-old woman who was accompanying the suspect was also detained but has since been released. One witness suggested that the deceased had been waiting for others and had reserved the sunbed, which appeared to be the primary cause of the initial disagreement.
