Zimbabwe’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SecZim) hosted a webinar on Thursday titled “Unpacking Tokenisation as an Emerging Capital Market Innovation.” The event brought together the regulator and two participants who have been approved to operate within the regulator’s Regulatory Sandbox.
The webinar aimed to explore tokenisation as a new form of capital market innovation, discussing its potential benefits and regulatory considerations. SecZim officials highlighted the importance of fostering fintech innovation while ensuring investor protection and market integrity.
Participants in the Regulatory Sandbox were given the opportunity to present their tokenisation projects and receive feedback from SecZim representatives. The session underscored the regulator’s commitment to supporting emerging technologies that could enhance Zimbabwe’s financial sector.
SecZim’s initiative reflects a broader effort to modernise the country’s capital markets and encourage the development of innovative financial products that align with global best practices.
