Kiran Singh, President of the Greater San Fernando Area Chamber of Commerce, has appealed for heightened police and military presence in downtown San Fernando following a second robbery within a fortnight. The latest robbery took place at Ishmael M Khan and Sons Ltd bookstore. Two armed men tied up the employees, stole their phones and cash, and escaped. Singh expressed concern about the psychological trauma workers might endure. He voiced his worries, stating that despite the current state of emergency, criminals continue to act. The Chamber has been asking for additional army-involved patrols in downtown San Fernando. The previous week saw another robbery at a bmobile outlet, Cell Serve Ltd. The criminals posed as customers, tied up the employees, and took away phones and cash. Although the San Fernando CID responded and managed to recover fingerprints, no arrests have been made yet. Singh affirmed that crime will not be tolerated and perpetrators will face the law.
