On 29 October, the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, posted a message on his official social‑media account. In the post he reflected on the nation’s progress in production, science and technology, and emphasized the importance of independent decision‑making in the media. Kacır said, “Every new work, every major leap and every success is a sign of our faith in Turkey’s future and of our determination to achieve full independence.” He paid tribute to the founders of the Republic, “I honor Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the heroes of the War of Independence, and all the statesmen who have served our country.” He added, “Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will carry our Republic to great goals and bring Turkey into the Century.” The message was part of the official celebrations of Republic Day, a national holiday that commemorates the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923.
