20th Century Studios has acquired the film rights to the Roblox survival horror game 99 Nights in the Forest. The studio has tapped filmmaker Josh Cooley to write the live-action adaptation of the title, which launched in 2025.
Sam Raimi, known for directing the Evil Dead trilogy and the Spider-Man films, will produce the project alongside his longtime collaborator Rob Tapert. Cooley, who directed Toy Story 4 and Transformers One, was selected for the project following a series of pitches to the studio.
The original game challenges players to survive 99 nights in a haunted forest while searching for four missing children. Gameplay involves building camps, gathering supplies, and defending against creatures that appear after dark, including a notable antagonist described as an aggressive deer.
While the production team has been established, 20th Century Studios has not yet announced a cast or a release date for the film. Details regarding the specific plot and how the game’s survival mechanics will be translated into a feature-length narrative remain undisclosed.
