Ryanair Chief Executive Officer Michael O’Leary has disputed reports that a passenger was partially sucked out of a shattered window during a flight in July. The incident occurred on a flight traveling from northern Greece to Germany shortly after takeoff.
The passenger, identified as Ljubisa Karovic, sustained injuries to his neck and shoulder, as well as friction burns, when the window shattered. While initial reports suggested the passenger was pulled toward the opening, O’Leary rejected the claim that Karovic was partially sucked out of the aircraft.
The airline has not provided further details regarding the cause of the window failure, but the CEO’s comments serve as a formal rebuttal to the accounts circulating in media reports following the event.
