Russian Daredevil Couple Engages Atop Empire State Building, Stirs Global Attention

Russian daredevil couple Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus have once again stirred the world’s attention. Known for their daring skyscraper climbs, they reached new heights on July 1 when Beerkus proposed to Nikolau at the top of the Empire State Building’s antenna.

Before Beerkus popped the question, the couple unfurled a large black banner that read, ‘When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace’. This message, displayed high above the city of Manhattan, quickly drew the attention of authorities and onlookers.

The audacious display of love and courage was met with swift action from law enforcement. After descending from their lofty perch to the observation area, the couple was taken into custody by the New York Police Department. They have been charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal trespass.

Despite the legal consequences, Nikolau and Beerkus have garnered a significant following. Internationally recognized for their high-risk urban explorations, they’ve documented their thrilling escapades across social media and were even featured in the 2024 Netflix documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story.
