Robinson-Regis Returns to Parliament for ZOSO Bill Debate

Camille Robinson-Regis, the Member of Parliament for Trincity/Maloney, has made her first official appearance in the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament since the General Elections on April 28, 2025. Her return coincides with the upcoming debate on the controversial Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) Bill. This security measure, if passed, would allow the Government to label high-crime areas as ‘special zones’ and extend law enforcement powers. While Robinson-Regis confirmed her return to parliamentary duties, she stated she would not participate in the bill’s debate as she is still reviewing its details. The ZOSO Bill has elicited substantial public commentary due to its provisions for warrantless searches and extended curfew powers. The return of Robinson-Regis, an experienced legislator and former minister, to the Chamber is a significant event in national politics.
