Roadside Robbery in Santa Cruz Turns Fatal

A tragic incident unfolded in Santa Cruz on the morning of August 15th, 2025, where a woman and her nephew fell victim to a fatal shooting during a botched robbery attempt. The victims, identified as Suevie Ghany, 29, and her nephew, Aaron, were accosted by two men while fetching spring water by the roadside. The suspects, driving a Nissan Cube, demanded the keys to the man’s van. In response, a licensed firearm holder brandished his weapon and fired at the suspects. Ghany was fatally shot on the scene, while Aaron later succumbed to his injuries at Mt. Hope Hospital. Police have recovered a firearm from the scene.
